  • Study Skills Development Grades 5-12

    Due to current circumstances, students have been challenged to learn in unfamiliar ways. Study skills are more important than ever since many students are expected to work more independently through distance learning models. Students will take the award winning online Mindprint Cognitive Assessment to determine how a student learns best. Students will receive individually tailored study skills to help a student complete homework/tasks in a more efficient and productive manner and retain information to perform better on tests. Finally students will have a 60-minute virtual consultation with an educational specialist to discuss the assessment results and best practice study skills.

  • Yoga - Balance & Strength

    Energize your body while gaining flexibility and strength through the practice of yoga. Using yoga poses, you will stretch and tone muscles while strengthening joints and improving your balance. This class is designed for people of all abilities. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Physical space in this class may be limited, but this class includes the option to participate via Zoom. Register for the virtual section if you prefer to participate virtually. Kyoshin Ryu is located at 143 Lake Street N, Forest Lake. Please park in the municipal parking lot at the back of the building.
  • Yoga - Hatha Flow

    Build strength while you lengthen and stretch your body by aligning ligaments through this gentle yoga practice. Yoga postures are connected with fluid movements that synchronize with your breathing to help reduce stress and improve balance. This class is most appropriate for people with experience in yoga. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Physical space in this class may be limited, but this class includes the option to participate via Zoom.   • Yoga - Specifically for Adults Over 50

    This beginning yoga practice will combine gentle physical poses with mindfulness and breathing. Our focus will be on functional mobility, balance and working to release stress and stiffness. Studies show that yoga practice positively correlates with both physical and mental wellness as well as managing pain and inflammation, improving sleep quality and much more. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Register for this class, attend the majority of the sessions and on the last day of class you’ll receive a $25 gift certificate good towards your next Community Education class.   • Yoga - Whole Body Vinyasa

    Whole Body Vinyasa is designed to increase both your strength and flexibility and is suitable for all ages and body types. The breath is incorporated into each exercise and helps to relieve stress and anxiety. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Each pose will be described in detail for beginners as well as modifications offered for more advanced students. Improve the health of your body, mind and soul through yoga! Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Effective and fun - Zumba is great for everybody and every body! It combines all elements of fitness; cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility while boosting your energy and leaving you feeling awesome!   • Driver's Education Age 14-Adult

    All Driver’s Ed classes will be held virtually for the foreseeable future. Since FLAHS is on a hybrid model of instruction, students who miss the beginning of the 3pm class due to their bus ride can join the virtual class when they arrive home and then attend the beginning of that day's evening class to ensure they receive all necessary instruction. A+ staff closely monitor attendance and participation in the virtual classes. This 30-hour program will be conducted by a certified instructor from A+ Driving School and will fulfill the state driver’s education requirement. The course will address the “how to” and “whys” of safe driving. The format of the class will be lecture and active discussion. After completion of the program, students will be able to set up and participate in behind the wheel sessions to meet the six hour state requirement. The fee of $369 is payable to A+ Driving School.     Please join Mark & Lori Hurley (aka "Mixed Nuts") with A Touch of Magic Entertainment in a live, virtual event, just for you! With their special blend of interactive comedy, general silliness (and just a touch of magic), "Beat the Winter Blues" is an event you won't want to miss! You may even receive a shout-out during the show! After Mark & Lori's lively 30 minute show, we'll play a few games virtually too.   • Yoga - Hatha Flow Beginner

    Learn the fundamentals of yoga including proper alignment and breathing during this class especially designed for beginners. Learn how to move between yoga poses while you improve your balance and flexibility and build strength and confidence to move on to more challenging classes. Hatha Flow Yoga provides the full benefits of practicing yoga at a softer pace appropriate for beginner students. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water.     Build strength with this dynamic yoga practice. We'll combine a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing to develop core strength and balance. Emphasis is on breathing through each posture to attain mind-body connectedness. Yoga detoxifies the body and mind with emphasis on movement, balance and intention. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Beginning to intermediate participants are welcome. Drop-in fee is $9.   • Yoga - Gentle Yoga for Healthy Spine & Hips

    Gain mobility in your spine and hips to release tightness and ease pain with gentle movements and breathing techniques. You will also develop important flexibility and balance.   • Code Championship Tournament/Virtual Computer Coding Competition - Grades 3-9

    Build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders! Players will be broken into pools based on age for competitive and fair play. Whether this is your first Code Championship event or if you've been competing for years this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. This event will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox then no additional download is required. Please come knowing how to navigate the internet (basic typing and mouse control). Players can register for one or all three days. The link to the Google Meet event will be emailed two days before the tournament.
  • Homemade Egg Rolls & Samosas

    Restaurant quality egg rolls and samosas can be made right in your own kitchen. These appetizers are jammed with flavors from around the world and can be a quick way to incorporate leftovers into something new and fun to eat. Make a variety of egg rolls, samosas and dipping sauces in class. This class is offered virtually. You will be provided an ingredient list and a link prior to class.
  • Mammoth Site

    Travel back in time to the most recent Ice Age to virtually explore the sinkhole in South Dakota where Columbian and woolly mammoths, camels, wolves and giant, short-faced bears became trapped, leaving this ancient trove of fossil remains. This location is called The Mammoth Site. Excavation, research and education continues there daily. Besides discussion of this ancient bonebed, the presentation will also include photos and discussion of the Ice Age Exhibit Hall as well as the Snake River Fossil site that is located in Minnesota. This is a live online presentation led by a Mammoth Site Educator. This class will include friends from many districts around the state and will be offered virtually. The registration deadline is Monday, April 26th.
