Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl. Participants will learn the basics of synchronized swimming such as figures and routines. Figures are specific body movements done in the water individually and then judged (very similar to diving). Routines are performances choreographed to music. Participants will learn and practice solo, duet and team formations as well as learn at least one routine. Goggles, swim cap and a nose clip are required. Participants will also have an optional opportunity to compete at the local level. If the participant should choose to compete at the local level, more information will be provided at the first session and an additional annual fee of $200 is payable to the Northern Formation Synchro Club. Any new swimmers who join after the Fall session will be learning skills but will be unable to compete due to competition deadlines. They will be preparing for next years' competitions. Please follow the COVID-19 Guidelines so we can safely stay open and serve you: If the participant is not feeling well, PLEASE do not come to class. Participant(s) may enter the facility five minutes prior to class. All participants must maintain 6' social distancing (on pool deck and locker rooms) and wear masks. While in the pool and showering, masks will not be mandated. When arriving for your class, please enter through the pool deck door. The locker room doors will be locked as they are exit-only doors. With the weather turning colder, participants should plan accordingly to stay warm as they travel in and out of the building. We encourage the participant(s) to come ready to swim; arrive with your swimsuit on and leave with your swimsuit on. If possible, we would prefer that the locker rooms not be used for changing of clothes. The locker rooms should be used for the use of showers (to rinse off before and after class) and bathroom use ONLY. However, the locker rooms are available for a rinse and change of clothing after class, if necessary. The participant must leave after the class ends. Due to the social distancing guidelines, we CANNOT have parents, relatives, friends. etc. in the pool facility. This is a drop off and pick up only - no observation from hallway, pool deck or bleachers. NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED per the MN COVID-19 Sports Practice Guidance for Youth and Adults Updated 12/28/2020: Spectator requirements: Spectators are not allowed. Participants who need assistance to participate in the activity due to age, medical condition, or disability, are each allowed to have one parent, guardian, or adult support person present to support them.
