Learn the basics of firearm safety and receive your certification from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. A parent or guardian must attend the beginning of the first session and is also required to come to the shooting range for the field test at the Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club on Saturday. The Saturday practical field test start times are first come first served with no check-ins after 10am. Students must attend all sessions as scheduled, be on time, and pass both a written exam and the practical field test to receive certification. Expect homework each day including reading. Students will receive a student manual and must bring a pen/pencil and the manual (and water if desired) to each session. No other beverages or snacks are allowed. Do not bring firearms, knives or ammunition to any session or to the field test. Upon completion, the DNR requires an additional $7.50 fee to be paid online in order to receive certification - this is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/student. Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club is located at 4648 240th St N, Forest Lake.
