    Learn to make beautiful art glass creations from an accomplished artisan who has been working with glass for over 36 years. Break glass with purpose and create amazing works of art that light up your life. Assembly method being taught is called copper foil, where a thin copper foil is bent over the edges of the glass so it can be soldered to hold the piece together. You can choose your own project and will need about $120-$150 in tools and supplies.  Supply list will be discussed at first class.

    If you’ve had any introductory glass cutting and assembly class you can bring your skills to the next level. Bring your tools and design ideas to the first class. Work on any design with any method. Learn to use lead, zinc or copper foil. You may need to purchase tools depending on what you want to do. First hour of class will be dedicated to assisting you with your projects. You are welcome to stay and continue working independently on your projects during the beginner class that goes from 7-9pm in the same room.

    Anyone can be an artist - yes, you! No art experience is necessary to create a 16 X 20 acrylic painting on a canvas that you can take home. Step by step instruction by professional artist, Tree Croyle, will guide you through the creation of the featured painting in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Creativity, fun and mess-making are encouraged! You are welcome to bring snacks and beverages. Please note: Each session will feature a different painting. A supply fee of $5 is payable to instructor at class. Hallberg Center for the Arts is located at 5521 East Viking Blvd, Wyoming.   • Bake & Take Holiday Cookies

    Get all your holiday treats made in one day! We will use premade dough to bake such cookies as peanut blossoms, snickerdoodles and ginger cookies. Whip up great no-bake treats like haystacks and peppermint bark. We will be working in teams of two and you will bring home 10 dozen treats each. Allergy note: All treats may be in contact with nuts, dairy and wheat products. A $25 supply fee is payable to the instructor. Bring a cookie sheet and containers to bring home your treats.

    Painting should be fun, relaxed and fulfilling; this class will help get you there by building your knowledge of basic painting skills. Acrylic painting techniques including blending, creating the illusion of depth, easy ways to correct a little accident, and learning to create your own style will be explored over three classes and then applied to a finished work of art. The medium is versatile and forgiving and instructor, Tree Croyle Johnson, will guide you through the process and teach you ways to take your painting to the next level. Several studies and one finished 16 x 20 painting will be made. A $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor on the first night of class.     Are you ready to get blissed out making monoprints with a Gelli Arts Gelli Plate? You'll learn top tips and tricks for using stencils, found objects and hand cut shapes to produce spontaneous monoprints. Please bring the following items to class: A Gelli Arts Gelli Plate in the size and shape of your choice and a Speedball Deluxe 4-inch soft rubber brayer. These items can be purchased online www.gelliarts.com, www.amazon.com or locally at Wet Paint (www.wetpaintart.com) in St. Paul or Blick Art Materials (www.dickblick.com) in Roseville. Paint and paper will be provided for a $10 supply fee, payable to the instructor on the first night of class. Stencils and found objects will be available for use during class.

    Knowing how to crochet will allow you to make wonderful items for yourself or to give as gifts. Learn basic crochet stitches to get you started and make a small project on the last night of class. Bring a skein of yarn and an H hook.

    Would you like to grow apples, strawberries, blueberries or other fruit in your own backyard? Learn how easy it is to select fruit varieties appropriate for Minnesota, to control insects and disease to ensure a fruitful crop and to plant, prune and maintain the plants for health and maximum yield. You will learn about strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and apples in detail as well as cherries, plums, and grapes.

    Gardeners consider color and form when they select flowering plants, but fragrance is often overlooked or forgotten. Please join us to learn how to identify and grow the most fragrant plants and preserve their essence by drying them and making oils, lotions and teas. Simple recipes will be provided.
  • Grow Your Own Vegetables

    You'll learn how easy it is to grow your own vegetables including tips on site selection, soil preparation, garden design and layout as well as why when you plant your vegetables makes a difference. We’ll discuss the essentials of weed, disease and pest control techniques, composting, how to extend your growing season and the best time to harvest. Helpful handouts and website information will be included. This class is taught by a Master Gardener using University research-based information.
