  • Music Lessons - Band Age 10-Adult

    This is a great opportunity for musicians of all ages to improve their ability to play their band instrument. Registration is open for woodwind, brass and percussion musicians. Whether starting your first year of band or working to improve and refine your skills, these 30-minute lessons are ideal! Upon registration you will receive a link to choose your lessons times. If you need to cancel and reschedule a lesson, please contact Mr. Matheson by email at least 24 hours in advance. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be rescheduled.

    FLAMS 7th Grade Experience: Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center (3-Day Trip) Get ready for an unforgettable three-day journey to the spectacular Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. Located near the Boundary Waters, Wolf Ridge’s 2,000-acre campus is the ultimate outdoor classroom. This trip for FLAMS 7th grade students, combining hands-on science, outdoor adventure, and team-building in one of the most beautiful settings in Minnesota. This isn't just a field trip; it's a growth experience. Confidence & Independence: Staying in dorms and managing their own gear helps students build self-reliance in a safe, supported environment. STEM in Action: Science comes alive when you can touch, see, and experience the concepts learned in the classroom. Teamwork & Bonding: Shared challenges on the ropes course and living together in dorms forge deeper friendships and stronger peer connections. Digital Detox: Students unplug from screens to reconnect with nature and each other. Trip Highlights & Activities: A typical 7th-grade experiences include activities such as: High Adventure: Build confidence and trust on the Adventure Ropes Course (30 feet in the air!) or the indoor Rock Climbing Wall. Hands-On Ecology: Step into waders for a Stream Study, track wildlife in Animal Signs, or learn wilderness navigation with Orienteering. Cultural History: Experience life as a fur trader in the immersive Voyageur Life class. Evening Programs: The fun continues after sundown with night hikes, campfires, or astronomy sessions. Accommodations & Meals: Students will stay in comfortable, modern dormitory lodges with private bathrooms and showers. Nutritious, kid-friendly meals are provided in the Fireplace Dining Room, featuring ingredients from the on-campus organic farm. Participate in leadership development and learn about opportunities for students to get connected with volunteer projects.   • ACT PrepStar Preparation and Practice Test Grades 10-12

    A strong ACT score continues to be important for college admissions and financial aid. Renee Holmquist, outstanding FLAHS teacher, will cover the test format, essential strategies, content review and complete practice questions. Students will take a fully proctored practice ACT test on Saturday. They will score their test for immediate results and will receive a detailed score report.
  • Sewing - Getting Started Ages 8-16

    Has your child been curious about sewing or wanted to make fun creations? Even if they’ve never used a sewing machine before, this is a great opportunity to learn the craft. They’ll learn how to thread a sewing machine and sew a straight line as well as techniques for machine handling that are frustrating to figure out on their own. They are welcome to and may find it helpful to bring their own sewing machine if it is in good working order. This class will be required before attending other sewing classes.

    If you've never used a sewing machine before or if it’s been years, this is a great class to take first! You’ll learn how to thread a sewing machine and sew a straight line as well as techniques for machine handling that are frustrating to figure out on your own. Get comfortable with the sewing machine and practice your skills. You are welcome to and may find it helpful to bring your own sewing machine if it is in working order.
  • Kids Acrylic Paint Party - Ages 6-13

    Connect with your creative side and join us for our no-experience-required art class. Jeremy Ross from Your Bearded Artist, will guide you through “Fun on the Field” on 8x10” canvas. All supplies are included. One adult chaperone is needed per child under age 13. The adult and child can make the project together or just the child can make the project with the adult supervising. All supplies are included. Due to materials being prepared in advance, there are no refunds after noon on Friday before the class.
  • Forest Lake Marching Band Color Guard Intro Clinic Grades 7-12

    Are you looking for an opportunity to perform and bring joy and excitement to people this summer? Come check us out and see if you'd like to join us! The Color Guard performs with the marching band to add dynamic visuals to performances. Color Guard members learn choreographed routines that utilize flags and dance to provide eye-catching visuals in coordination with the songs played by the band. We will go over basic skills, techniques, and learn a simple routine. No experience necessary. Current or previous dancers and gymnasts are strongly encouraged to participate. Wear athletic clothing and shoes. Bring a snack and a bottle of water.
