  • Basketball League Boys & Girls Grades 2-5 WAITING LIST

    Please note: This is the waiting list for Basketball League Grades 2-5. If a spot opens on your preferred team, you will be automatically enrolled into the correct course and added to a team. If there is a spot available on a different team, you will be contacted. If there is no spot available, you will not be contacted and you will be removed and refunded on January 26th. If you would like to be removed and refunded before January 26th, please contact Melanie at 651-982-8392 or mhaas@flaschools.org. Basketball league will focus on improving basic skills such as dribbling with both hands, shooting, passing, game positions and offensive/defensive techniques. Register by what grade your student is entering in the fall and the elementary school your student attends. After our coaches meeting, coaches will notify you with schedule details the following week. Games will start as early as 5:30pm or as late as 7:40pm. In addition to the one game night, your student will have one practice a week. Practices are currently set to begin the week of January 5. Games are set to begin January 19. Boys: Girls: Volunteer coaches are needed for each team. If you are interested in being a volunteer coach, please indicate this when registering.     1st Grade - Modified T-Ball Baseball will focus on building coordination, keeping kids active and improving their skills while they have fun with their friends. Players in first grade will play modified t-ball and receive a set number of pitches from the coach to put the ball in play. If they don't put the ball in play, they will be given one additional hit from a tee. Home team will provide a parent volunteer umpire. Depending on enrollment numbers, it is likely that Age 5 and current Kindergarten students will be separated. Kindergarten T-ball will be modified where those that are able to do "coach pitch" will have that option during games and will receive three pitches.   • FLHA Jr Rangers Hockey | Ages 4-8

    This program is for boys and girls ages 4-8 in the Forest Lake Area School district that are new to hockey. This is typically the level that all new players start at and is a combined learn to skate and learn to play hockey program. This is for kids brand new to learning how to skate or play hockey and no prior skating experience is needed. Sessions start October 12, 2025 and runs through March 1, 2026. The sessions are 45 minutes with 17 sessions. A limited supply of starter equipment sets are available for purchase for $50 and can be reserved during the registration process on the flhockey.org/juniorrangers website. Once registered, a week or so later you will receive an email voucher to bring to Strauss Skate in Maplewood to get your child fitted with an equipment set.

    Bullseye! Are you looking to try something new or want to enhance your archery skills? Following the National Archery in the Schools Program curriculum, you will learn about all the parts of the bow and arrow, shooting techniques and enhance your skills as a shooter. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Shoot straight, have fun and remember - safety first! The registration fee will be refunded after the second session if children are not strong enough to achieve full draw of the bow.
  • Pickleball Grades 1-5

    Step into the exciting world of pickleball with TGA (Teach. Grow. Achieve.) where the fun never stops! Pickleball combines the fast-paced thrill of tennis with the accessibility of a game suitable for all ages. Students will learn the fundamentals using top-quality equipment provided. Games, drills and matches will help students sharpen their pickleball skills and engage with academic concepts that bring the game's strategies to life. We emphasize sportsmanship, integrity and perseverance to create a nurturing environment where students will receive individualized attention tailored to their skill level and progress.
  • Tae Kwon Do Ages 6-15

    This ancient Korean martial art began over a thousand years ago and became the world's most popular martial art and form of self-defense. Tae Kwon Do is great physical exercise involving the use of your mind, body and spirit while nationally certified instructors teach self control, courtesy, perseverance and integrity. Parents report that their children become more focused in school, increase their self-confidence and improve their social relationships. It is an excellent activity no matter what your level of athletic ability. Classes will be taught by Jr. Grand Master Eddie Gibson and Sr. Master Theresa Gibson.
  • Skating Lessons Alpha 5

    Prerequisite, passed Pre-Alpha. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge three-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class. Skaters must officially test out of each level and demonstrate skills in accordance with ISI national testing standards.   • Skating Lessons Beta 6

    Prerequisite, passed Alpha. Skaters must demonstrate 6 backward crossovers in a row with no toe-pushes in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Both T-stops must have speed going in and come to a complete stop using the outside edge of the back skate. During backward stroking, skaters should hold the glide portion for 3 seconds. The T-stops are the most difficult element in this level. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Skating Lessons Delta 8

    Prerequisite, passed Gamma. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left inside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Skaters should hold their lunge for a distance equal to their height and exit with a 1-foot glide to show control. The bunny hop can be performed on either side and must take off of and land on the toe pick. Skaters must demonstrate 4-6 forward inside and outside edges with a perpendicular push across the long axis and no toe-pushes. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first.   • Skating Lessons Gamma 7

    Prerequisite, passed Beta. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left outside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Both mohawks must be tested in the mohawk step sequence with appropriate speed. Skaters should come to a complete stop with a 90 degree turn to pass the hockey stop. The mohawk sequence is the most difficult element in this level! Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more.   • Skating Lessons Pre Alpha Age 6 and up

    Pre-Alpha (Level 4) is for new/first time skaters age 6+ OR skaters who have passed Tots 3. Skaters must demonstrate 6 swizzles in a row, forward and backward, from a stand still position. Both the two-foot and one-foot glides must be held for a distance equal to the skater's height in a straight line. Skaters must demonstrate at least 6 backward wiggles traveling the distance of their body height. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.     Tots 1 (Ages 3-5) will focus on learning to skate, falling down, getting up, standing and marching independently. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha.   • Skating Lessons Tots 2 Ages 3-5

    Prerequisite, passed Tots 1. Tots 2 skaters must master a two-foot hop with both feet leaving the ice. Skaters must demonstrate one swizzle going from heels touching to toes touching in a stand still and while moving. Skaters should hold the two-foot glide for a distance equal to their height. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.
