  • Flag Football League Entering Grades K-3 WAIT LIST

    Please note: This is the waiting list for Flag Football League Entering Grades K-3. If a spot opens on your preferred team, you will be automatically enrolled into the correct course and added to a team. If there is a spot available on a different team, you will be contacted. If there is no spot available, you will not be contacted and you will be removed and refunded on September 15th. If you would like to be removed and refunded before September 15th, please contact Melanie at mhaas@flaschools.org or 651-982-8392. Flag Football League will focus on skills such as passing, catching, ball handling and learning game positions. Register by what grade your student is entering in the fall and the elementary school your student attends. We monitor our numbers daily and will accept as many participants as possible. We add students in order of registration and your child must be on the waiting list before placing them onto a team. You will be contacted if there is a spot open on any team within your child's age/grade. Please note, this may not be the team you have selected. Please note below: Games: Tuesdays (K-1) Thursdays (2-3) K-1 2-3 All games are held at Fenway Fields and practices will be held at various FLAS Elementaries at 5:30pm or 6:30pm. In addition to the game nights, a weekly practice will be planned and communicated by the volunteer coach after the coaches meeting. Practices can be held on Monday-Thursday, excluding your game day.     2nd Grade Basketball will focus on entry level skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Students will be introduced to gameplay rules and techniques during this recreation league! For an example of game schedules from previous years, click here. Students will participate in one practice night a week for 8 weeks while also playing 6 games throughout the season. Once the game schedule begins, you will have one practice night and one game night each week. The first two weeks of the season will consist of practice only. Coaches may choose to practice two nights during the first two weeks. Students must be registered by their current grade, no exceptions. All participants will receive a game t-shirt if registered by the deadline. Please indicate your student’s t-shirt size when registering. Volunteer coaches are needed!   • Rangers Multi-Sports Camp Ages 6-12

    This multi-sport camp is an introduction to a variety of sports as well as other fun PhysEd and yard games throughout the week, including but not limited to flag football, basketball, baseball and soccer. Days are divided into focused sport play, free play, lunch/break time and multi-sport games. The camp is held at the Forest Lake Area Middle School and led by Forest Lake Area Schools Staff as well as college student athletes that are Forest Lake and other local high school Alumni. Every week there will be different activities and games taking place so students can sign up for multiple sessions and have a new experience each week! Participants should wear sport-appropriate clothing and shoes, bring nut-free snacks for breaks, as well as sunscreen and a bottle of water every day. Students that are attending all day will also need to have a packed lunch. Each section will meet in GYM A at FLAMS.     Horsin' Around Ages 8-15

    Interested in horses and horseback riding? Join us to learn all about horses including different breeds, how to care for, groom and saddle a horse as well as riding instruction and experiences. How to be safe while around and on horses will be included in each activity. This comprehensive program is great for beginner riders and kids who want to learn more about horses. Participants must wear long pants and hard-soled boots.

  • Skating Lessons Pre Alpha Age 6 and up

    Pre-Alpha (Level 4) is for new/first time skaters age 6+ OR skaters who have passed Tots 3. Skaters must demonstrate 6 swizzles in a row, forward and backward, from a stand still position. Both the two-foot and one-foot glides must be held for a distance equal to the skater's height in a straight line. Skaters must demonstrate at least 6 backward wiggles traveling the distance of their body height. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha.     Prerequisite, passed Pre-Alpha. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.
