    2nd Grade Basketball will focus on entry level skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Students will be introduced to gameplay rules and techniques during this recreation league!   • Volleyball League Grades 3-6 WAITING LIST

    Please note: This is the waiting list for Volleyball League Grades 3-6. If a spot opens on your preferred team, you will be automatically enrolled into the correct course and added to a team. If there is a spot available on a different team, you will be contacted. If there is no spot available, you will not be contacted and you will be removed and refunded on October 24. If you would like to be removed and refunded before October 24, please contact our office. Volleyball league will focus on the basic skills of passing, setting, serving and other offensive/defensive techniques. Games will start as early as 6pm and as late as 7:15pm. In addition to the one game night, your student will have one practice a week. Practice begins the week of October 7. Volunteer coaches are needed for each team. If you are interested in being a volunteer coach, please indicate this when registering. All participants will receive a t-shirt if registered by the deadline, so please indicate size when registering. We will do our best to provide the correct size t-shirt for those that register after the deadline.   • Fencing Ages 6-15

    Fencing is a vigorous sport that develops stamina, quick reactions, speed, accuracy of movement and excellent coordination. Classes begin with warm-up exercises followed by games, footwork and drills in a fun, enjoyable atmosphere. Through strategic bouting, you’ll learn fencing strategies that require problem solving skills. You'll also build confidence and develop your analytical skills by learning and practicing how to referee bouts. Fencers are fully protected with a mask, jacket and gloves. All equipment is provided. Please wear long athletic pants, t-shirt, athletic shoes and bring a bottle of water.

    Step into the exciting world of pickleball with TGA (Teach. Grow. Achieve.) where the fun never stops! Pickleball combines the fast-paced thrill of tennis with the accessibility of a game suitable for all ages. Students will learn the fundamentals using top-quality equipment provided. Games, drills and matches will help students sharpen their pickleball skills and engage with academic concepts that bring the game's strategies to life. We emphasize sportsmanship, integrity and perseverance to create a nurturing environment where students will receive individualized attention tailored to their skill level and progress.
  • Cheerleading - Intro Grades 1-6

    Does your child have lots of energy? Do they like performing and entertaining others? Cheerleading might be a great sport for them! In this intro to cheerleading, kids learn all the basic skills that it takes to be a cheerleader including how to tumble, stunt and lead a crowd. After mastering the basics, we will put the skills together into a short routine that will be performed for family and friends. We might also get to perform at a Forest Lake Area School sporting event! A t-shirt and pompoms are included.   • Skating Lessons Pre Alpha Age 6 and up

    Pre-Alpha (Level 4) is for new/first time skaters age 6+ OR skaters who have passed Tots 3. Skaters must demonstrate 6 swizzles in a row, forward and backward, from a stand still position. Both the two-foot and one-foot glides must be held for a distance equal to the skater's height in a straight line. Skaters must demonstrate at least 6 backward wiggles traveling the distance of their body height. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Hockey Skating Skills 1

    This course is for hockey players interested in strengthening their skating skills, increasing their speed/power and improving edge quality. Hockey Lessons will focus on strengthening skating skills, increasing speed/power, improving edge quality and fundamental skills. Participants must be able to stand up on the ice without assistance. Hockey Skills 1 participants must be currently or previously enrolled in Community Education's Intro to Hockey program (groups 3-6).   • Hockey Skating Skills 2

    Prerequisite, passed Pre-Alpha. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class. Skaters must officially test out of each level and demonstrate skills in accordance with ISI national testing standards.
  • Skating Lessons Beta 6

    Prerequisite, passed Alpha. Skaters must demonstrate 6 backward crossovers in a row with no toe-pushes in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Both T-stops must have speed going in and come to a complete stop using the outside edge of the back skate. During backward stroking, skaters should hold the glide portion for 3 seconds. The T-stops are the most difficult element in this level. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Skating Lessons Gamma 7

    Prerequisite, passed Beta. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left outside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Both mohawks must be tested in the mohawk step sequence with appropriate speed. Skaters should come to a complete stop with a 90 degree turn to pass the hockey stop. The mohawk sequence is the most difficult element in this level! Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first.   • Skating Lessons Delta 8

    Prerequisite, passed Gamma. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left inside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Skaters should hold their lunge for a distance equal to their height and exit with a 1-foot glide to show control. The bunny hop can be performed on either side and must take off of and land on the toe pick. Skaters must demonstrate 4-6 forward inside and outside edges with a perpendicular push across the long axis and no toe-pushes. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more.
