Knitting - Cables

Adult / Arts & Home -
Winter 2026 - Jan-Apr

Want to advance your knitting skills? Learn how to knit the cable stitch. These stitches are characterized by the twisting pattern that is often seen in Celtic knitting patterns. By the end of class you will have completed a coaster using a basic cable stitch. Participants must already know the knit and purl stitches. You will learn cast-on, basic bind-off and basic cable stitch. Please bring metal or wood knitting needles in size 6,7,8 or 9 – straight or circular (24-32” is a nice length for circulars), cable needle or one DPN (double pointed needle), crochet hook size E, worsted weight yarn (cotton or acrylic), darning needle and scissors. Scrap yarn is fine as you will not need a lot.
