  • American Red Cross Certified Babysitters Training Ages 11 and older

    Becoming a Certified Babysitter provides the knowledge necessary for young people to make some extra money. Course topics include: Leadership - Safety and Responsibility, Stop - Think - Safety, Safe Play, Basic Care - The Heart of Babysitting, Check - Call - Care, First Aid for Breathing and Bleeding Emergencies, and The Business of Babysitting. This course will include fun activity ideas to keep a variety of age groups amused! Participants will take home a babysitters bag to bring with them whenever they babysit. In addition to the bag, participants will receive a handbook, certificate and safety kit. Students should bring a pencil, infant sized baby doll or stuffed animal, a snack and a lunch. Participants must be at least 11 years old - age will be verified.
  • Elementary Youth Night Grades 4-6

    Kids will join their friends from school for a night of fun and games! Whether they're on the basketball court, at the volleyball nets, jumping in the pool, or dancing along to music provided by a DJ they’ll be having an amazing time. When kids need a break, they can try their hand at bingo. Great prizes will be available all night. Pizza, water and snacks will be available for purchase ($1.50-$2 each). Registration fee covers all activities. Participants should bring a swimsuit and towel if they plan on swimming.
  • SafeChild-Stranger Awareness Grades K-6

    Kyoshin Ryu Karate Academy is offering a SafeChild course on stranger awareness and anti-abduction tactics for children. SafeChild presents students with numerous interactive role-playing scenarios that provide children with the information and skills necessary to avoid becoming a victim of an abduction by a stranger. Kyoshin Ryu Karate Academy is located at 280 SW 12th Street, Forest Lake.
  • Winter Adventure Day - Families with Children grades K-6

    Start your adventure at your selected time and rotate through three stations that will include interactive opportunities to learn outdoor living skills, discover how animals adapt to winter weather and explore animal furs. Station topics may change based on weather. Activities are designed for children ages 5 and up. Younger children are welcome, but may need to be carried or pulled on a sled. After completing your three adventure stations, participants are welcome to stay, explore and enjoy the Linwood Forest. Dress for the weather. Lunch will be provided by the Linwood Forest Committee for a free-will offering.

Track their location, share purchases, set restrictions and allow your kids to only have access to things approved by you. This fun and interactive session will help you manage your kid’s technology use.

    Kids can spend an evening with the Trolls enjoying a movie, snack, games, a craft and dancing! Bring a friend and spend a fun evening with us at The Dance Factory which is located at 1432 Lake Street S, Forest Lake.
  • Mike Lynch Minnesota Starwatch Party

    Your universe is waiting! An indoor orientation will be followed by quality time outside getting to know constellations like The Big Bear, Orion the Hunter, Leo the Lion and some of the great stories behind them. We’ll use large reflecting telescopes for close up views of planets, the moon, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and other wonders. Learn about basic celestial photography and (weather permitting) we’ll use a new astronomical camera-telescope system for extra special views of our more distant universe. You’ll receive a handout package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, apps, websites, a telescope-buying guide and more! Even if it’s cloudy, you’ll learn a lot, have a great time and get a Mike Lynch “Cloud Check” for a future Minnesota Starwatch Class. Dress for the weather and bring lawn chairs to make yourself comfy!
