The Job Connection is a great way to find local youth to come to your home and assist with chores such as: organizing, vacuuming, dusting, raking, mowing and more. Adult employers must live in Forest Lake or surrounding areas, complete a registration form, negotiate pay with youth and supervise youth.     Learn more about becoming a hospice volunteer with Allina Health Hospice & Palliative Care! Our volunteers offer companionship, help with errands, provide respite time for caregivers, assist with writing/reading and in many other ways support patients and families. Patients are nearing end of life and they and their family members greatly appreciate volunteer support!

    Our canine companions depend on us to take care of them and that includes being prepared for those emergency situations that can arise at any time! Learn about common injuries in dogs, how to provide quick and easy first aid, and gain hands-on experience performing CPR and the Heimlich maneuver on dogs. This class is for humans only; stuffed animals will be used for demonstration and practice.

    Your universe is waiting! An indoor orientation will be followed by quality time outside getting to know constellations like The Big Bear, Orion the Hunter, Leo the Lion and some of the great stories behind them. We’ll use large reflecting telescopes for close up views of planets, the moon, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and other wonders. Learn about basic celestial photography and (weather permitting) we’ll use a new astronomical camera-telescope system for extra special views of our more distant universe. You’ll receive a handout package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, apps, websites, a telescope-buying guide and more! Even if it’s cloudy, you’ll learn a lot, have a great time and get a Mike Lynch “Cloud Check” for a future Minnesota Starwatch Class. Dress for the weather and bring lawn chairs to make yourself comfy!
