  • Skating Lessons Delta 8

    Prerequisite, passed Gamma. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left inside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Skaters should hold their lunge for a distance equal to their height and exit with a 1-foot glide to show control. The bunny hop can be performed on either side and must take off of and land on the toe pick. Skaters must demonstrate 4-6 forward inside and outside edges with a perpendicular push across the long axis and no toe-pushes. Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha first. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Skating Lessons Gamma 7

    Prerequisite, passed Beta. Skaters must demonstrate both right and left outside edge 3-turns with speed and clear entrance/exit edges. Both mohawks must be tested in the mohawk step sequence with appropriate speed. Skaters should come to a complete stop with a 90 degree turn to pass the hockey stop. The mohawk sequence is the most difficult element in this level! Participants will start in Alpha and progress to Delta. The difficulty of each skill will increase with each level. Some of the skills you will learn include right and left outside edge 3-turns, bunny hops, backward crossovers and more.   • Skating Lessons Pre Alpha Age 6 and up

    Pre-Alpha (Level 4) is for new/first time skaters age 6+ OR skaters who have passed Tots 3. Skaters must demonstrate 6 swizzles in a row, forward and backward, from a stand still position. Both the two-foot and one-foot glides must be held for a distance equal to the skater's height in a straight line. Skaters must demonstrate at least 6 backward wiggles traveling the distance of their body height. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.     Tots (Ages 3-5) will focus on learning to skate, falling down, getting up, standing and marching independently. Participants must be registered by their current age. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Skating Lessons Tots 2 Ages 3-5

    Prerequisite, passed Tots 1. Tots 2 skaters must master a two-foot hop with both feet leaving the ice. Skaters must demonstrate one swizzle going from heels touching to toes touching in a stand still and while moving. Skaters should hold the two-foot glide for a distance equal to their height. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Skating Lessons Tots 3 Ages 3-5

    Prerequisite, passed Tots 2. Tots 3 skaters must master push and glide stroking (not marching) for 6 strides. They should be able to hold a dip for the length of their height with an appropriate amount of speed. Skaters must demonstrate a snow plow stop or create snow with their blade at a stand still. Forward swizzles should be complete starting with heels together and ending with toes together. Participants must be registered by their current age. If you have not participated in Community Education’s Skating Lessons in the past, you must register for Tots or Pre-Alpha. Skaters are evaluated regularly and when the Skating Director feels a skater has mastered all of the skills in their level, they will be moved up to the next level/class.   • Hockey Skating Skills 3

    This course is for hockey players interested in strengthening their skating skills, increasing their speed/power and improving edge quality. Participants will learn: Forward crossovers Backward crossovers Hockey stops Forward inside & outside edges Backward inside & outside edges Mohawks and more! Gloves and helmets are the only equipment needed for this course. This course does not include any stick handling. Skaters must have passed Pre-Alpha (Level 4), Hockey Skating Skills 1 & 2 or be enrolled in "Mites" or above.   • Ice Skating Show

    Skaters of all levels are encouraged to sign up for our annual Ice Skating Show. Skaters will perform during our ice skating show which will be at 7pm on Saturday, May 18th and 1pm Sunday, May 19. Students will have assigned times to perform during the show. Show practices run adjacent to group lessons which means you can sign up for both group lessons and the ice show. Please make sure that you do not pick conflicting times. There is a discount if you register for both in the same session, please see below for more details. Only Skaters in Freestyle are eligible to register for solos. The senior program is for skaters who are graduating high school this year. Deadline to register for the Ice Skating Show is March 1. Ice Skating Show participants receive a discount on the Ice Skating Show sessions when registering for both skating lessons (April section) and the show. The Ice Skating Show session discount is $29 off for skaters in Tots though Delta who are registered during the Winter Catalog. Hockey Skills 1 participants must be currently or previously enrolled in Community Education's Intro to Hockey program (groups 3-6).   • Archery - Intro Ages 8-15

    Bullseye! Are you looking to try something new or want to enhance your archery skills? Following the National Archery in the Schools Program curriculum, you will learn about all the parts of the bow and arrow, shooting techniques and enhance your skills as a shooter. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Shoot straight, have fun and remember - safety first! The registration fee will be refunded after the second session if children are not strong enough to achieve full draw of the bow.
  • Archery - Advanced Ages 10-15

    If you’ve completed the Archery - Intro class and learned about the parts of the bow and arrow, you can continue honing your techniques and skills as a shooter. We will continue to follow the National Archery in the Schools Program curriculum. Safety always comes first but having fun is required.
  • Warrior Within - Girls Empowerment Grades 1-6

    We are all seeking connection, a sense of belonging and to feel accepted in a world where at times we feel alone and afraid. Warriors will be guided on a journey of self-love, self-care and self-acceptance through dance, song, empowering books, group discussions, activities and crafts. The positive growth mindset approach will help build and maintain life’s biggest challenges such as confidence, courage, friendships, relationships and conflict. Warriors will put on a small presentation for their family and friends on the last night of class.

  • Track & Field Decathlon Ages 6-10

    Javelin, discus, shot put, long jump, relay race, hurdles and much more. This high-octane decathlon class is designed for beginners and experienced track and field athletes. Safety is our first priority. We use foam padded javelins and hurdles as well as lightweight safety shot put and discus materials. Get pumped and primed to get your face on the next Wheaties® box.
  • Track & Field Grades 3-6

    Students will have the opportunity to try out different track and field events and then choose the ones they enjoy the most to showcase their skills in a special track and field meet! The fee includes a t-shirt, coaching and the track meet. The meet will be held on Monday, May 20 from 4pm to approximately 7:30pm at the Forest Lake Area High School track. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the meet. No refunds will be given for weather related cancellations. No rain date is available. Registration by 3:30pm on the second day of class (Wednesday, May 1) is required in order to receive a t-shirt. *4660-SP24G is for St. Peter's and practices will be held at Forest Lake Elementary.

    Calling new and returning students! The Engineering For Kids Jr. STEM Club introduces students to a new, hands-on lesson every week from various engineering disciplines. Students focus on developing skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration. These life skills provide students with the confidence to approach challenges in their lives and realize that they can succeed in almost anything! Engineering for Kids has a library of 300+ individual lessons which continues to grow so we never have to repeat lessons.
  • Little Kickers Soccer Ages 3-4

    Little Kickers is a great introduction to soccer. This fun training program for boys and girls will work on individual skills based on age and small team play. For an example of the daily schedule from previous years, click here. All dates will take place behind Columbus Elementary School. Students will be assigned to a field each week where they will practice for the first half and then break down to play a game versus another team for the last half of the day. Students must be registered by their current age as of Jun 1. (Must be 3 years of age by Jun 1) No exceptions. All participants will receive a game t-shirt if registered by the deadline. Please indicate your student's t-shirt size when registering. Volunteer coaches are needed! Open to all levels of experience, this program is dependent on volunteer coaches so please click here for more information on coaching.
