Each day will consist of grips, footwork, offense/defense, singles/doubles strategy and sportsmanship, proper technique and grips for a variety of strokes like groundstrokes (underspin/topspin), volleys, lobs, overheads, approach shots, serves, returns, blocks and drop shots. Coaches will use a mix of closed and open drills, allowing for students to improve strokes and apply what they’ve learned through play. Games, competitive play, and skits round out this camp to ensure it’s a fun time for all! Participants must be able to stand up on the ice without assistance. Hockey Skills 1 participants must be currently or previously enrolled in Community Education's Intro to Hockey program (groups 3-6). Hockey Skating Skills 2 participants must have passed Pre-Alpha (Level 4), Hockey Skating Skills 1 or be enrolled in "Mites" or above. Our skater to coach ratio is 12 to one per class. Days are divided into focused sport play, free play, lunch/break time and multi-sport games. The camp is held at the Forest Lake Area Middle School and led by Forest Lake Area Schools Staff as well as college student athletes that are Forest Lake and other local high school Alumni. </p><p><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);">Each week there will be different activities and games taking place so students can sign up for multiple sessions and have a new experience each week! </span></p><p>Participants should wear sport appropriate clothing and shoes, bring two nut/peanut free snacks, sunscreen and a bottle of water every day. Take your skills to the next level in this fun, fast-paced session of March Madness Basketball. Fundamentals and fun are in store. Emphasis is placed on developing the basic skills of dribbling, shooting, passing, sportsmanship and teamwork. We use engaging and dynamic games to support students’ growth including our unique three-on-three style game. This is a high-octane class with an inclusive atmosphere.</p>
